Tax-deductible giving

SVDE operates under fiscal sponsorship through Hack Club Bank, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All monetary donations are tax-deductible and you will receive proper documentation. Please consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

The window is open, help us fill it

We're pre-launch, targeting our first 5–10 builds in Summer 2026. Early support helps us establish the pipeline and prove the model.

Immediate impact

Each computer we build and distribute in Summer 2026 goes directly to a referred family. There's no waiting list, demand is already there.

Efficient use of funds

Because hardware is donated, almost all monetary support goes directly toward parts, not overhead. $40 = one complete build.

Building toward scale

Early donors help us prove the model and document the process, the foundation for a replicable chapter network across the Bay Area.

Frequently asked questions

What condition do donated computers need to be in?

We accept machines in functional or repairable condition. Cosmetic wear is fine, we care about core components working. If you're unsure, reach out and we'll let you know if the machine is a good fit.

How old can donated machines be?

We typically work with machines from the past 8–10 years. Older hardware can struggle with modern software requirements. If you have machines outside this window, feel free to ask, we'll assess on a case-by-case basis.

What happens to our company's data?

All drives are securely wiped using a multi-pass process before any software is installed. We can provide documentation of the wipe upon request. Your data security is a priority.

Is my monetary donation really tax-deductible?

Yes. SVDE operates under fiscal sponsorship through Hack Club Bank, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All monetary donations are tax-deductible.

How do families receive computers?

We work with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley to refer families through their existing trusted network, reaching households who genuinely need support in San Jose and Cupertino.

Can our company volunteer or partner with SVDE?

Absolutely. We welcome partnerships of all kinds, from hardware donations to technical volunteers who can help with refurbishment. Reach out via our contact form and we'll find a way to work together.
